Making mourning jewelry normal again

Launching 2026

What is Memorial Jewelry?

For centuries, people carried their grief close—in lockets holding hair, rings engraved with names, brooches marking loss. Memorial jewelry made mourning tangible, personal, and beautiful. It normalized grief as something to be held, not hidden.
Dark Parlour revives this tradition. We create custom memorial pieces that honor your loved ones with the same care and craftsmanship that defined Victorian mourning jewelry. Whether you're preserving hair in a locket, restringing an heirloom necklace, or commissioning a completely new piece, we approach each with reverence for both the person and the practice.

About the Work

I'm Jem DeSanti, a jewelry artist working in historical techniques. I source authentic Victorian and Edwardian components—antique locket frames, vintage chains, period-appropriate findings—and work with traditional methods including metalsmithing, stone setting, and restringing. I've trained in metal fabrication at Richmond Art Center and continue to deepen my skills in historical jewelry restoration.Dark Parlour launches in 2026, but my artistic practice is ongoing.
